I went to a Christafari concert in Spokane, WA with some high-schoolers I was discipling (1997-98?). Mark Mohr's gospel presentation was one of the clearest and most straight-forward I have heard from any Christian band. I haven't been to lots of concerts, but I have been to some big-name ones. I trust the Lord to use the lyrics, life, and long prayers of your band to usher some into his kingdom.

My wife and I, just got back from OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA. It was "AWESOME"!!!!. In our opinion you guys were "THE BEST". Your music (rhythm) has no COMPARISON. You guys are UNIQUE. We feel BLESSED for having been able to see you performing with all of your staff. We flew from Panorama City, California to Jamaica. It was our first time visiting Jamaica and being present in the first "FUN IN THE SON" GOSPEL SPRING FESTIVAL. We hope to be present next year for the 2003. We were also happy to fly back home (California) with Glen and Zach, and in our way to the airport, ride the same shuttle. Our congratulations to all of you CHRISTAFARI members for such a great performance in OCHO RIOS, JAMAICA. MAY OUR LORD KEEP BLESSING YOUR MINISTRY AND YOUR PERSONAL LIVES. I was the ONE blowing "the whistle" during your performance and everybody's performances. To let you know that I MADE SOME NOISE IN THE HOUSE. Hey Mark,
I just want to let ya know that God is using the band in my life, to minister to me. I just gave a Muslim friend of mine a copy of "Valley of Decision", and I know that he will be touched by it. I can tell just by listening to Valley of Decision, that has His hand is on you guys, and gal. When I listen to that Album, I feel so much better after listening to it. I really like reading the lyrics, and I haven't come across lyrics that simplistic yet effective since observing my Bob Dylan collection.
I to am a musician/songwriter, and your music has had profound influence in how I write, and has at times been a well of inspiration, it makes it easier on me when I can enjoy some good reggae music without having to hear references of the "glories" of the smoke(pot). Though I do go to secular artist at times to inspire me, Christafari is one the few Christian Bands I can turn to. And if God graces me the same platform as ya'll, I am going to try to have a standard like ya'll. And maybe inspire other Christian musicans. Because Mark, I have to say it, there are a lot of immature cookie cutter Christian bands out there that emulate MatchBox 20, etc..., And I believe God can use that, but Christian music should be as well crafted, as the secular artist, and as original. Yeah, I know you guys, and gal do remind me of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh.etc.., but I can there is something different about ya'll. I can tell. You have in my opinion a perfect balance of the types of music you play.
Though my style of music is almost totally different from ya'll's, if you listen to it very carefully there is hint of reggae in it. Reggae is definitely made for Gospel music, but you can say that about all other kinds of music, where did country music start? In da Church. Where did Motown start? In da Church. Where did classical music start? In da Church. It's just up to us to bring it back home.

Mark:
I have been reading over your website and it is very interesting to me. I am a Christian (and what I mean by this, is that I read the Bible and try my best to do exactly what it says, not taking from or adding to. I worship at a place called Livingston Church of Christ.) I am a 22 year old college student here in Tampa Florida, and I can really relate to the things that you speak of. I agree totally, about how certain opportunities come because of the way you look, and that is great because that is one more person that can be helped that may not have been otherwise. I have had my locks for a little over a year now, and I have had many opportunities to talk about Jesus to someone, because of how my hair is. Especially while I spent some time in the Caribbean, in Costa Rica. I find this fascinating. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate what you guys are doing, and by reading your responses it helps me explain my believes as well. I'm not even sure if this will get to you, but I hope you get the chance to know I really admire you guys. Also, do you have any shows planned for the south-east anytime soon? I'd love to hear from you, if you're not too busy, thanks Mark.

I think that incorporating the reggae music with christian lyrics is just great. It shows that Christian music does not only have to be contemporary or gospel but can be reggae also. As a result of this it can still minister to unsaved reggae music lovers and can add variety to Christian music. I know people who believe that Christian music is always only slow and kind of boring but the inclusion of the reggae music beat makes it more unique and interesting. It appeals to the Caribbean community who accept reggae music as part of their heritage. Continue to do God's work and spread the news of salvation through his son Jesus by using the conscious music. Bless! Tavare Nickson, St. Lucia
