Question:
I recently read your article about witnessing to Rastas. How can you imply that Rastas are not saved? Rastas are saved if they have fully accepted Jesus and his teachings into their hearts and realized that He has returned in His second coming as H.I.M. Haile Selassie I, The Power of the Trinity.
Answer:
Firstly, please allow me to clearly state how much I love and respect all my rasta bredren and sistren. God has granted us free will and everyone has the right to choose his own belief system. Yet it seems that our revelations vastly differ. One side believes that Christ has already returned as Haile Selassie (Ras Tafari), while the other side believes that those who worship Selassie as Christ in the Second advent have missed the mark. Given this, it makes perfect sense why both sides would try and evangelize the other.

I have been given my revelation through the Bible, the Spirit and the teachings of His Imperial Majesty (Haile Selassie) himself. Selassie said that he was a man, and that man should not worship man. He humbly admitted that he was a sinner, yet the Bible says that God cannot sin and Christ lived a perfect life by Tafari's own admission. Selassie boldly proclaimed that he was a Christian who worshipped Jesus Christ and prayed to our Lord and Savior. He was also an avid evangelist who, "Laboured to lead (his) sisters and brothers to (his) Savior Jesus Christ."

Selassie was not born of a virgin as Christ was in his first advent. In fact, his mother had many children before him. He did not arrive on the clouds of Heaven for every eye to see and every ear to with all of His angels in tow as Christ said he would return in Matthew 24. He performed no miracles, healed no sick, raised no dead and no dove appeared at his infant baptism. He never claimed to do any of these things either.

Selassie tried his best to follow the exemplary life of Christ, but he was not Christ.

Christ did more than just live for us. He was born so that He could die--and He died so that we may live! In the 70's Haile Selassie regrettably passed away. He is now with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He did not rise again to be seen by a 500 witnesses. He went to heaven as a self proclaimed Christian--a defender of the Christian faith. Everything in his life pointed towards the true Christ and away from himself. He was a Godly man, but not God. A Christlike man, but not Christ.

I respect any Rasta who wishes to share their faith with me because they may believe that Christ has already returned. I do hope that they will respect my beliefs as a Jesus Dread. I feel that it is better to honor all of Selassies teachings by submitting one's life to the true Christ as spoken of in the Bible--The same one that Tafari prayed to daily and surrendered his life to every morning. If it was good enough for him, it is good enough for me.

How did I come to this conclusion you may ask? One day, I was inspired by the Bob Marley quote, "Give us the teachings of His Majesty," so I went to a major Rastafari website that posted every single speech, interview and quote by H.I.M. ever known to man. I copied all of those speeches into one large word file and then I studied them carefully. One day I decided to do a quick search for words like "God", "Christ", "Bible", and "Jesus" and I came to the realization that there was only one King to whom the king of kings and lord of lords of Ethiopia bowed--Jesus Christ. He must be the true Lord! This is my revelation--Follow who he followed. Pray to whom he prayed. Seek and ye shall find.

"With the birth of the Son of God an unprecedented, an UNREPEATABLE, and a long-anticipated phenomenon occurred. He was born in a stable instead of a palace, in a manger instead of a crib. The hearts of the wise men were struck by fear and wonder due to His majestic humbleness. THE KINGS PROSTRATED THEMSELVES BEFORE HIM AND WORSHIPPED HIM. "Peace be to those who have good will." This became the first message. When He sacrificed Himself at Golgotha for the atonement of OUR SIN, He prayed with his last breath for the forgiveness of those who had tortured Him, saying, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." SHAME ON THOSE OF US WHO ARE CHRISTIANS AND DO NOT FOLLOW THE WAY OF THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, Whose life was filled with kindness, humility, and martyrdom!" (Words of Haile Selassie).
