STITCHIE'S "REAL POWER" BEST SELLING GOSPEL REGGAE ALBUM OF 2000
Jan. 7, 2001 - Despite our numerous updates, many of you are still asking "What is Stitchie?" Stitchie is the first non-Christafari artist to be signed to the band's in-house label. Formerly known as Lieutenant Stitchie, he is an award winning, chart topping secular reggae legend. For the past two decades, he entertained the Caribbean and the rest of the world with his infectious rhythms and clever lyrics, earning him a record contract with Atlantic Records. Stitchie came to Christ a few years ago, partly through the Jamaica for Jesus Ministry founded by Mark Mohr. Now an on-fire Christian signed to Lion of Zion, his first Gospel album titled "Real Power" proudly proclaims his faith in Christ over rapid-fire dancehall, infectious roots, a dash of jazz and a taste of praise and worship.
Released in May of 2000, this album far exceeded Lion of Zion's initial expectations, selling ten times as many units as his last three secular albums and earning the rank "Top Selling Gospel Reggae Release of 2000." In addition to the great music on the "Real Power" project, it is an enhanced CD courtesy of InTheBible.com. InTheBible.com also creates the enhanced portion of CDs for numerous other artists in the Christian industry such as Crystal Lewis. But according to the president of InTheBible.com, Stitchie's CD has received the greatest response worldwide over all of the other projects that they have been a part of! The passionate Stitchie is ecstatic over this success, but continues to remain humble, giving the glory to God.
Stitchie's ultimate goal is salvation for his listeners. This is why he jumped at the chance to be a part of a free enhanced CD that was being given away to everyone at the Olympics Games in Sydney. In addition to the music by Stitchie and other artists, the enhanced portion of the disc contained the Bible in over 43 languages. This musical tract passed out freely by YWAM missionaries is estimated to have reached 126 countries following the Sydney Games. Plans are already underway for the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. If you haven't picked up a copy of "Real Power" yet you should definitely check it out. Stitchie's album is available at all Christian and secular music stores. If it is not in stock have them order it, or purchase a copy online at our lionofzion.com store.
"The last time I was in Jamaica I was amazed that every gospel and secular record shop had the CD in stock. Even the guys on the street corners selling albums from push-carts were hustling his music and blaring the tunes through their blown out boom box speakers. The album is exploding in Jamaica with airplay on all of the stations including Irie FM," said Lion of Zion president, Mark Mohr. Stitchie has seen major success in England and Canada following his recent tours. His songs are presently burning up the charts on U.S. Black Gospel/Urban charts and in October, "Real Power" reached #3 on the Top Albums chart in Colombia, beating out the likes of Bob Marley, Reggae Gold, and Israel Vibration. So if you don't have this CD yet--get off the late freight, find out what all the buzz is about and pick up a copy today.
