CHRISTAFARI RECORDING NEW ALBUM (a message from Mark Mohr)
Aug. 19, 2006 - Dear friends, it's hard to believe that it was over four years ago when we headed into the studio to record Christafari's "Gravity" album. A lot has changed over the last few years but Christafari is still standing strong.
REGGAE REDEMPTION SONGS II
A few months ago I was planning on devoting my summer to the recording and promotion of the second installment of our Reggae Redemption Songs series. However, our fans, buyers and distributors have spoken firmly on their request for a new Christafari album. So we've decided to postpone the release of Reggae Redemption Songs II and begin working immediately on Christafari's next studio offering.
THE NEXT ALBUM
In just twelve days we had finished the demo process. Then we headed off to the Bahamas where Avion and I collected a few Marlin Awards including ALBUM OF THE YEAR! We returned to Los Angeles with a fresh perspective and completed our song selection for the new album. Just a few days later we began the lengthy recording process. We are currently in our third week of recording and hope to continue tracking for the next month or two. I cannot wait for you guys to hear these new songs and sing along with us in concert!
...TO THE FOUNDATION
The album will be called "...To THE FOUNDATION". We want our listeners to build their lives on Jesus Christ, the Head Cornerstone. We desire for them to be firmly planted in the Word of God and equipped with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The title is also a reference to the distinct sound of the album.
THE SOUND
True to its name, this album is far more rootsy than our previous offerings. We are using all live instrumentation, a whole lot of horns and a few special guest appearances. Overall, we are striving to record a timely album with a timeless sound. While certain tracks may remind you of our past offerings, on "To The Foundation", we are boldly marching forward, pioneering a rustic roots sound that will help shape the future of gospel reggae.
PLEASE PRAY FOR US
I am personally writing this not only to inform you, but to ask you to pray for this recording. Please pray for our physical health, our marriages and relationships. Pray that God will bless every note, lyric and vocal recorded. Pray for our distributors, record label and webstore. Pray that this album will get out to as many as possible. Pray for the future listeners of this recording and ask the Holy Spirit to use this album to touch lives and bring souls to Christ.
FRUIT OF OUR LABOR
As I am writing this I cannot help but think of a call I received yesterday by a former Rastafarian. He said that he became a Christian through our music and the salvation plan which is laid out on our website. I am extremely encouraged after calls like this. Those kind of calls motivate me to finish this album and hit the road so that we can reach more lost souls. But we cannot do this without your prayers and support.
