Gospel Reggae Artist Video Blog Competition

Jan. 20, 2010 - Greetings Gospel Reggae Artists. I hope that you have been enjoying my 10 Tips to Greater Sales on GospelReggae.com. I just posted an update about the video blog. Please read through it carefully because I want to challenge you to take things up a notch.

Rather than just telling you what you can do to increase your sales, I am going to give you more of an incentive and hopefully spark something within your competitive side. Whoever creates the best video blog wins! I know that "Music is a mission not a competition," but for the next two weeks you can ignore that slogan--the competition is on! So start filming. Here are the details:

GOSPELREGGAE.COM ARTIST VIDEO BLOG COMPETITION:

WHO may enter? Any artist whose music is currently sold on GospelReggae.com may participate. Even if it's just one song/MP3!

WHAT is it? This is a promotional contest where you create and submit your own video blog that mentions GospelReggae.com.

WHY should I do it? To promote your music and message to a broader audience and help get the word out about GospelReggae.com.

WHAT can I win? The Grand Prize winner gets their video featured on the main page of GospelReggae.com for two weeks, they will also have the featured album, their own jumbo banner ad (created by us), and their song will be one of the first 5 songs played on the main page of GospelReggae.com (for 2 weeks). If you win you'll virtually OWN our main page for 14 days! The winner may redeem this during any 2-week period of 2010. You will also get a gray GospelReggae.com T-shirt, bumper stickers and the top five best selling CDs of 2009!

WHAT if I don't win the Grand Prize? Every applicant is still a winner. In addition to the valuable promotion of your music that you will get from the video blog, you will also receive one free gray GospelReggae.com T-shirt (sizes S-2XL), bumper stickers and Christafari's chart-topping "No Compromise" CD for your video submission (limit 1 per artist).

HOW long should I make the video? Keep it short and sweet. While there is no minimum length for your video, please do not make it longer than 5 minutes. The goal is to keep the viewers attention.

WHAT is the quality of footage you require? Just do the best that you can given your own resources. Any type of camera, camcorder or camera phone is fine. I filmed all of my video blogs on tour using my iPhone 3GS. It doesn't have to be professionally edited (or even edited at all). In fact the biggest viral videos on YouTube are usually fairly raw. It does not have to be HD. High quality is a good thing if you have the option, if not, use your creativity.

HOW many videos can I submit? You may submit as many videos as you wish (limit of one free CD & T-shirt per artist/group).

WHAT should I film? Film whatever you want. Let your creativity run wild. The ultimate goal is to tell the viewer something about yourself that they didn't already know. Take them behind the scenes and give them a slice of your life. Tell us your story. Take us to a new place. Use humor or be dramatic. Take us on a journey, teach us something new or learn a skill. Whatever it is, it must be entertaining. It could be heartbreaking, heartwarming or even humorous. For all of these ideas and many more please read my complete article on how to video blog before filming. Here is the link:

WHAT will my video(s) be judged on? The Grand Prize winner will be selected using the following criteria:

*Most Informative
*Most Creative
*Most Entertaining
*Originality
*Mentions GospelReggae.com
*YouTube description features the link to: http://www.gospelreggae.com

HOW does this differ from a commercial? Please DO NOT make an advertisement or a music video. Don't speak down to your viewers or try and sell yourself to them. Just a simple mention at some time in the video that your music is available at http://www.gospelreggae.com is adequate. The goal is to have the viewer make a connection with you as a human being. Help them to identify with you so that your message can resonate with them.

WHEN is it due? All submissions are due no later than Monday February 1st, 2010 at 11:59pm. Don't spend a lot of time or money doing these videos. Just get them done before the deadline.

HOW can I submit my video? All that you have to do is upload your video to YouTube with http://www.gospelreggae.com/ in the description. Once it is up please link it to your FaceBook profile and your FaceBook Group and forward me the YouTube link via e-mail.

NOTE: Your video will be disqualified unless you audibly mention that your music is available on GospelReggae.com and the YouTube description features our website link.

So what's your story? Will you tell it to the world? This is a great opportunity to get your message out there and get a little something back in return. So start filming today and send me those submissions!
