LION OF ZION ENTERTAINMENT MOVES FROM NASHVILLE TO LOS ANGELES WITH NEW VP (A Message from Lion of Zion Founder and President Mark Mohr)
Mar. 10, 2005 - "Big tings a gwaan" with Lion of Zion Entertainment! Our once Nashville based reggae/world music record label has shut down it's office in Music City USA and moved all of its operations to a brand new location in Los Angeles, California.
For six years we worked to fit into the cookie cutter mold of the CCM industry in Nashville, but we always felt like a fish out of water…reggae just doesn't fit in. They say that if you wanna make it in music you should live in either LA, New York or Nashville. But to be more specific, if you wanna get somewhere in Reggae, the last place you wanna be is in Nashville! So shortly after I moved back to Los Angeles, I set out to make some big changes in my company.
The first major move was to separate Lion of Zion Entertainment from our Lionofzion.com webstore. Over the past few years our webstore has grown so large that it was consuming virtually all of our energy as a record label. So with the assistance of Scott Whelan, Fritz Madden and Hugh de France we moved the Lionofzion.com webstore to the city of Angels and are in the process of transitioning the store into a new domain name/image; http://www.gospelreggae.com
The next major move was to bring on a new Vice President, Jason Irish. On February 1st, 2005, Jason took over the position held by Scott Whelan for the last six years. Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for the years of dedication, persistence and hard work that Scott and his lovely wife Nila have contributed to this company. They have our prayers and support as they move into full-time real estate.
I am excited to see what the future holds now that both of my companies are operating out of the same building in the Reggae capitol of the United States. There are more reggae festivals in California than anywhere else in the World and the largest reggae festival in North and South America takes place in Long Beach, CA each year. This is the place to be!
So expect more releases by new artists on Lion of Zion and massive changes in the genre of Gospel reggae courtesy of http://www.gospelreggae.com.
